The National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) is offering additional funding in support of the INSITE PhD Scholarship Programme.
The National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) in Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, UK has announced it will partner with the INSITE Programme with the offer of funding towards the recently launched INSITE PhD Scholarship Programme.
The NDC is offering to part-fund 2 x PhD Scholarships under the current INSITE call for proposals due to close on the 31st January 2021. This funding, up to 25% of the cost of each scholarship, will be in addition to the contribution set out by INSITE of 50% of the cost of a PhD Scholarship.
To be eligible for NDC part-funding, successful PhD proposals must address one or more of the INSITE programme topics in the context of decommissioning and/or repurposing or reuse of energy assets (Oil, Gas and Renewables) and in relation to the Energy Transition.
To be eligible for the NDC contribuiton, the PhD proposal must be led by a UK university or research institute and include at least one co-supervisor from the University of Aberdeen. The principal supervisor’s university or research institute must fund the remaining cost (~25%) of each PhD scholarship.
The ~ 25% cash offering can be used to part-fund UK tuition fees, UKRI Stipend, student training and/or research consumables. The maximum amount that will be awarded by the NDC is £21,500 per PhD Scholarship.
As the NDC is a partnership between the University of Aberdeen and the Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC), universities and research institutions receiving co-funds from the NDC will be required to enter into a research agreement with the University of Aberdeen and OGTC.
