The Phase 1 research identified the need for more high quality data describing the ecosystem in the North Sea. The relatively small amount of available data in Phase 1 has meant that the scope for ground-truthing the models has been limited. With more data available for validation, the outcomes from these models will be greatly enhanced and increasing their value in terms of optimising decision-making. The availability of more data and data collection opportunities, allows the science around the influence of structures to be extended, building on the phase 1 programme.
