The first SIME conference, taking place at the TIC in Glasgow has been an important milestone for the INSITE programme. From its inception in 2012 the programme has been about enhancing our understanding of the effect of structures on the marine environment and to host a conference dedicated to this area of research is a measure of how important this topic has become to a host of stakeholders from industry, science and regulatory communities.
The conference programme was packed with a wide range of talks and posters which stimulated a good deal of discussion and debate. We also had input from the team at Xodus which has been working on the new INSITE Interactive data portal to facilitate access to and sharing of industry held data for researchers, an exciting new development for INSITE and a cornerstone of the second phase of research.
We hope to have copies of presentations and posters available to share here on the INSITE website, keep an eye on twitter feed for updates on when these become available.
